Functional movements are considered movements you perform in everyday life. In functional training sequences you will predominantly find compound movements such as push, pull, squat, hinge, lunge, carry or rotation. Multiple joints and muscles will have to work together in a specific pattern for successful execution and strength development.

Furthermore, these movements will improve mobility, coordination and neuromuscular control, which not only various athletes need to posses, but also elderly people who would like to retain mobility. Due to the engagement of the core these movements are proven injury prevention methods. They address muscle imbalances and asymmetries while building a foundation that can help becoming a healthy individual who is able to move well, lift heavy and remain injury-free.
